This is the best opportunity for you to meet newcomers and help them settle.

                                                    Homework Club TutorProvide tutoring support so that students can reach their academic goals and can adapt and integrate faster into the New Brunswick education system. You can provide support in Middle and High School Math, English, Science and ESL

                                                    Independent Literacy TutorProvide English language support to newcomer who may or may not be currently enrolled in a Language program. After receiving relevant training, you can meet with the adult learners individually to help them improve their English Literacy skills.

                                                    InterpreterProvide interpreting services to all newcomers with very limited English proficiency. The interpreter can be either volunteer or contracted and help make communication easier so that Newcomers can better participate and understand their settlement process.

                                                    Rainbows Program FacilitatorVolunteer in the Rainbows Program to facilitate a peer support programs for children who have experienced a separation, divorce, death or other painful transition within their family.

                                                    Y Delivery Coordinator Make a difference, help facilitate food basket deliveries from one of the 4 Food Banks in Saint John to the clients they serve. This role requires heavy lifting and access to a valid driver's license and vehicle considered an asset. Mileage will be reimbursed.

                                                    If the Applicant is UNDER the age of 18, they do not require a criminal record check.

                                                  • Please Note: As a condition of volunteering for the YMCA, the applicant is responsible for submitting a current satisfactory original Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Screening prior to the start of the volunteer placement.

                                                    You can submit your Criminal Record Check through by receiving it from the Police Authority or the YMCA can conduct it for you from Sterling BackCheck.

                                                    You will receive the application and instructions for the Criminal Record Check by email.

                                                    Saint John cost: $10.00 if applying to volunteer for a non-profit organization.

                                                    Rothesay Area cost: $15.00 in Rothesay to volunteer for a non-profit organization.

                                                    Grand Bay-Westfield Area cost: No cost.

                                                    Sterling BackCheck: No cost.

                                                     

                                                    If the Applicant is UNDER the age of 18, they do not require a criminal record check.

                                                  • YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick recognizes the value of youth performing volunteer work in our community. It is the policy of the YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick that all youth volunteering less than 18 years of age, have signed consent by a parent or guardian agreeing all requirements of a volunteer placement prior to beginning their volunteer duties.

                                                    I, the undersigned, give parental or guardianship consent to the above named volunteer in this application for them to perform volunteer work if successful in this role and consent to all requirements of a volunteer placement with the YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick including consent to use any photo of the above named volunteer in this application, individually or in a group, at and association related activity for the purpose of public relations (publication in print and electronic media).
